The Phoenix House Adventure Journey

The Phoenix House Adventure Journey is an initiative led by Phoenix House staff in collaboration with Outward Bound and MacPac Foundation that help us to inspire our young clients providing them unforgettable life experience. is an achievable way to grow young people’s confidence and find empowerment to live their full potential. During this 4 day adventure the youth will be coached, challenged and inspired to make friends for life, gain confidence to be themselves and discover untapped abilities and skills they never realised they had.

The Phoenix House Adventure Journey will provide all signed up young people with an opportunity to disconnect from the everyday strains of being a young adult and give them time to breathe and reflect about their own future. Excel beyond the four walls and return with new skills and a new outlook on what they are capable of. The key learning outcomes for this program are: self-esteem and the ability to envision one’s best self; having a positive impact on others; and resilience.

“Outward Bound was an unforgettable life changing program that set me up towards freeing myself from the cages around me. It’s a unique way of challenging yourself, knowing yourself, and rediscovering yourself.” (Outward Bound Australia Participant, February 2019)

Outward Bound Australia provides all participants with back pack, sleeping bag and mat, shelter, group gear and food. All what young people are asked to bring with them are their personal items.

Phoenix House is proud to have significant positive shift in its young people’s wellbeing every year. Assessed by independent organisation called Huber Social, the positive social impact on transforming young lives and revealing their full potential has experienced 17% positive shift in youth wellbeing. Programs and trips like Outward Bound do contribute to the overall result.
